The brand is marketed under three divisions, Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, and Ann Taylor Factory. The Company's Ann Taylor stores compete in the "better" priced category, and cater to the successful, relatively affluent career woman, who needs appropriate, fashion conscious attire for her professional life, and prefers stylish, coordinated looks for her leisure activities.
Ann Taylor Loft stores compete in the "upper moderate" priced category. Ann Taylor Loft collections are designed for value conscious women with a more relaxed lifestyle both at work and at home.
Ann Taylor Factory stores have become a shopping destination in their own right. They continue to evolve from their roots as clearance outlets, with an increasing percentage of their clothing merchandise specifically designed and made to carry the Ann Taylor Factory label.

I find Loft a little more youthful and "fun"
Ann Taylor is dressier- good for a suit or that type of thing. More "investment" pieces.
90% of my wardrobe is Loft! I love them for all my work (teaching) clothes as well as weekend sweaters and now tees, shorts, flip flops.
They have great dresses every spring!

ITA, I love loft, its more mordern i.e wide leg jeans. Ann Taylor is career and the more "grown up" look, spectator pumps etc.

The Loft is a bit cheaper and geared to the the 20-40 somethings instead of my mom. Oops, that was not PC but it got the point across.

Loft is a little "younger." But I LOVE Ann Taylor Factory stores - there's a lot of stuff there they don't have at either of the other stores and the prices are so good. I spent like $300 at Tanger there and got a whole spring wardrobe - skirts, dresses, shirts, and shoes!
