What is Plainedge?

DH and I are planning to put our house up for sale within the year, and I'm casually thinking about some towns I'd like to explore.

What is Plainedge? Is this a town? School district? Both? Neither? Where is it? Chat Icon

Re: What is Plainedge?

Its either a Hamlet or Incorporated Village (not sure which one) in the Town if Oyster Bay. Its west of Farmingdale, I believe.

What is Plainedge?

It is a school district and a town. It is more or less between Levittown and Farmingdale - just east of the Oyster Bay Expressway.

What is Plainedge?

I call it a fake town lol. It's kind of like how Beechhurst is really Whitestone.

Plainedge is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 8,817 at the 2010 census. Residents are served by the Bethpage (11714), Massapequa (11758), and Seaford (11783) Post Offices, with a small number of residents being served by the Farmingdale (11735) and Levittown (11756) Post Offices. The area was once known as Turkeyville.

ETA: I have friends who lived in Seaford, Farmingdale, and Massapequa who were in the Plainedge SD so I guess I'd consider it more of a school district than anything.

Re: What is Plainedge?

It's not really a town, there are a few houses on Stewart Ave that technically have a Plainedge mailing address but that's it. It's really just the school district that serves parts of Bethpage, Seaford, and N. Massapequa.

I graduated from Plainedge Schools.........I lived in Seaford.

Plainedge is a nice area - taxes tend to be higher than those of surrounding areas, though! It's a small school district, pulling in from N. Massapequa, N. Seaford, parts of Bethpage, and a small piece of Farmingdale.

It's mostly areas right off Hicksville Road, north of Jerusalem Ave, and going up a bit north of Hempstead Tpke.

What is Plainedge?

The area is really nice, it's just north of where I moved to in Massapequa (though I'm still Massapequa SD, but Plainedge is very good as well). I'd consider it like how Gibson is really VS, or Mill Brook is really VS.

Re: What is Plainedge?

I went to Plainedge schools from K through 12! As others said, everyone was from North Massapequa, Bethpage, Seaford, and Farmingdale. The district was on the smaller size, I graduated high school with 180 people.

Overall, I think it was a nice place to grow up.

Re: What is Plainedge?

I reside in North Mass. Plainedge SD. I love it!

I grew up only a town away in Bethpage and I swear i had no clue what was on the other side of Hempstead Tpke.

Love my home, the area, the convenience to the parkways.

Great town!
