What I Love About My 2 Year Old...

I feel like there are so many posts on the negative aspects of raising 2 year olds (no criticism here, I am as guilty as anyone else), and we all need help and advice managing them at this age.

But I thought it would be fun to focus on the things we love about our 2 year olds (or 3 year olds).

Here are a few of mine:

I love how proud he looks when he does something hard "all by myself"

I love seeing his likes and dislikes really emerge

I love how funny he is

I love watching him spend quite a bit of time examining a worm, or some rocks on the ground, or dandelions

I love the huge hugs I get from him and hearing him say "I love Mommy so much!" and knowing he means it sincerely

I love hearing his random stream of consciousness thoughts. Today at lunch he told me very solemnly that he would not bite George (our retired neighbor) on the butt (he saw one kid do this to another kid in a class not long ago, so it's on his mind, but it seemed to come out of the blue.

I love hearing all the things he's learning, new words, counting, songs, ABCs, etc.

I love his hugs and kisses and how excited he is to see me when I pick up. I also love hearing each new word he says his vocabulary is starting to explode lately. Thanks for starting this post I'm quilty of focusing on the negatives too much also.

I love when I do something and he hugs my legs and says "Oh tata (his thankyou) Money(his mommy)", I love that he is getting his own personality. I love that he will spend an hour each morning watching me get dressed, brushing my teeth, doing my hair and make-up just for the sake of spending time with me. I love his hugs and kisses. I love that bedtime is when we call daddy so daddy can read how does a dinosaur say goodnight. I love that he has to kiss each dinosaur in the book and say good night Dine.

I love how excited he gets when daddy gets home and how he drags DH around all night long.

I love hearing all his thoughts in such an adorable sweet voice

I love how excited he gets at the sight of any animal.

I love how sweet and gentle he is with younger kids

I love how proud he is to bring his little shopping cart the the supermarket and help mommy do the shopping

I love when I ask him what he wants to do for the day and he says "how 'bout..."

I love when he sees me start to go out with out him and he says "no, I go with mommy..." he never cries but it just makes me feel good to know he wants to always be with me

I love that a few nights ago he was having a hard time sleepign and after 20 minutes of talking to daddy in the dark, said I need my mommy and then proceeded to fall asleep in my arms like he did when he was "little"

I love how he holds my face and says "mommy, I'm so happy to see you"

As hard as this age is, it is by far my most favorite so far. He is such a little person that for the first time in his life I really am beginning to get to truly know him as he tells me his thoughts, likes, dislikes etc.

this is a good idea bc right now I can only think of the negatives DS is 20 months old but close enought!

I love the way he gives us kisses when he is ready to go to bed

His dancing is so cute, he now has a little variety of moves

So cute the way he is with the cat

His smile is so contagious!

he sings so many songs , so adorable even though his words don't make sense to us!

DD is in the terrible 3's right now so great post!
I love how excited she gets when she learns something new. Last night she realized her cookie dough ice cream had cookie dough it and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

I love how she helps me- throws stuff away, helps with her younger brother, etc.

Watching her play teacher to her dollies

Giving random nicknames to her brother that make no sense. For the longest time he was Bobby(his name is Jack).

Just how smart she is and how much she already knows. It just blows me away- her vocabulary alone.

She is the most awesome kid when she behaves. Watch out when she doesn't

Very sweet! Thanks for sharing these thoughts, it helps me to remind myself of the cute things they do, the not so cute things are way to apparent!

I love how he dances when Nihao Kailan is on. I love how he runs to "Mama" and gives me the sweetest and yummiest kisses ever. I love how he gets so excited when I read him"Hippos go Berserk"(loves the part when I yell "all the hippos go berserk"). Love how he gets so excited when "dada" comes home and he yells "hide" and runs to hide from him. Love how sweet he is to the cats.

When he randomnly hugs our legs running back & forth between us and very quietly says "ahhhhh!" as he hugs!

His messy hugs that he insists on giving during his messiest dinner nights! "Mommy HUG!" and he reaches for me...."Daddy HUG!" and reaches for DH....THEN "Mommy Daddy Hug!!" and he wants us both to hug him together!

When he wakes up not crying in the morning the 1st thing he says is "Nonna drive school bus to school"!!


How he runs full speed down the block when he sees mommy or Daddy get home from work!

When i drop him at the sitter that he barely cares that I am there & rarely says goodbye to me! Some might be upset by that....i just realize how happy he is there!!!

How he will hug the cats!

DD just turned 2 and I love EVERYTHING (just about ) that she does right now! She is very smart! She says such funny things and loves to run and play...I could go on and on...she makes DH and I laugh constantly :)
