what happens at your first sonogram?
so my first appointment is week9. its a new OB, so they should do blood work and a sonogram.
i was hoping for week 8, but i have a work conflict that i cant miss so i need to wait another week for this all to feel real (assuming everything goes well and we can hear the HB )
so what can i expect? is the sonogram just on my tummy or is it inside? i have no clue what to expect!
thanks!

They will do an internal sonogram. You may or not get bloodwork. If you are a new patient they will get a complete history from you.
Good Luck!

it should be an internal sonogram. you will be able to see and hear the heartbeat. By 9 weeks you will also see the whole shape of the baby!! good luck!!!

Same here. They didn't do any blood work on me until my 12 week appointment.

Yeah as the PPs said, you will have an internal sonogram. They'll review everything with you in terms of what you can / can't eat, give you recommendations for pre-natals, answer any other questions you might have etc.
My doctor's office doesn't do bloodwork so I had to go to a lab to get that done -- with a prescription. I was also told to schedule my 12 week ultrascreen / NT scan at the hospital. My doctor doesn't do sonograms past the initial internal.
