What happens at your first doctor visit??
Did you DH go with you?
Is it just bloodwork?

Everyone is different I think... I guess it depends on your Dr. DH came with me to the first appt and he's going to try and make it to them all. I was 6 weeks... they took A LOT of blood and did an internal sono (got to see the baby and hear the HB), pap, breast exam and then we went over some things in his office and he gave us a bag of all different things to know, coupons, hospital info, etc.

MY DH did come, yours should come too if he can so he can be there to answer/ask any questions. Depending on how far along you are, they will try and do a sono to see if they see something. If they do not, DON'T worry. It may just be too early to see anything.  They will also take blood, a urine sample, weigh you and take your blood pressure. Then your OB should sit down with the both of you and go over your family disease histories, backgrounds (to see if you need to be tested for anything genetic), and also any questions/concerns that you have. dh came with me.
The dr examines you- weight, height, lmp. Then does an internal sonogram and you will see the heartbeat. You will get your first picture.
The dr will tell you a few things about being pregnant- what to stay away from, what to eat, etc.. You will get vitamins.
And last but not least they will take blood- A lot of blood. They took about 15 vials from me!

Mine was at 8 weeks. DH came with me.
They did:
weight/BP/urine
took about 8 vials of blood
internal exam (including PAP, if you haven't had one recently)
sonogram
complete medical history from both of us
gave us an overview of what to expect throughout the PG
