What does this mean?!?!
I was sent by Dr Kreiner for an HSG. Due to my insurance I need a referral. Dr Kreiner's office doesn't issue them so I got it from my PCP.
Fine.
Had HSG done on tues and the radiologist said it all looked clear. About 1 hr later I get a call from PCP's office to come in for a f/u.
Fine.
I go tonight & PCP tells me that the radiologist that did the HSG had called him that day & said the dye from the HSG leaked out my right tube into my abdominal cavity and wants me to get an MRI (or cat scan-I can't recall) with and without contrast, to see if there is a break in the tube to see why the dye leaked.
Really?!?!
I am at a loss! Also I wonder if the info is being sent to Dr Kreiner. Going to call both offices in the morning.
I mean I thought the radiologist said the dye would go out that way. I remember that b/c it sounded odd to me- I was thinking "how does it just go out the tube?!?"
I'm terrible at dr appts b/c I don't ask questions when I should (like at that moment).
Where does the dye go? Some did come out the way it went in.

Re: What does this mean?!?!
I thought that's what happens too because just like you I remember thinking that it was so weird. And I am the same way at doctor's appointments - i would call and ask. Today i was that annoying patient for the first time in my life and good thing because I caught something that they didn't.
Hope you get some answers.

Re: What does this mean?!?!
Thanks for responding. I actually just googled it and a detailed explanation of the procedure says the dye seeps out into the belly.
Also wanted for note: forgot to mention in OP, radiologist did mention he had to push more dye through b/c it didn't come out the right side at first, but after another push of dye it did.

No doubt I'm making calls tomorrow

Re: What does this mean?!?!
Hope you got some answers by now...but I also thought that was what was supposed to happen...the tube isn't really connected to the ovary so i thought that dye would just come out at the end of the tube and that's that. Not sure what an MRI or cat scan would show that the xray with dye didn't show...maybe PCP got a little confused, I would hope ob/gyn would be able to explain everything to you...when i am on the phone with them i try to say "so what does that mean?" whenever they tell me anything so it gets me a second to process what they've just said and to think of any questions that i might have...hope that helps!

Re: What does this mean?!?!
Received call back from the nurse. Results were all normal. MRI was noted, but nurse recommend I email Dr Kreiner to see what he felt. I emailed him and he said
"It could mean there are adhesions I myself do not order an MRI for this"
My PCP has issued a referral for this. So I guess I'll get it done.
