What does primrose oil do?
Is this supposed to make delivery easier?
Are there any other myths/remedies that can either speed up delivery or make delivery easier?

Re: What does primrose oil do?
it's supposed to ripen your cervix, but does not actually induce labor. Just helps to move along some progression.

Re: What does primrose oil do?
just like Randi said. It won't "activate" labor but if your body is already trying to "ripen" it can help things along. It contains the same "ripening" agent, Prostaglandins, as semen (thats why BDing is good to bring on labor).

So you rub it vs taking it orally, right?
I really hope to go into labor early.

Re: What does primrose oil do?
You can take it orally, vaginally or both.
But this won't "help you to go into labor early"
if your body isn't ready to go into labor, it won't...
This just helps to "aid" in the process!

Is there anything else that can "aid" in the process?
I need all the help I could get.

Re: What does primrose oil do?
I just started taking yesterday for this pregnancy. My OB had me take with my last pregnancy too. It doesnt induce labor, just ripens cervix like AP stated. the first 3 days I take 2 pills with breakfast, 1 lunch, 2 dinner. then it changes after that for the next 3 days. Then it says on day 6 to start Bding. My dd came the day after due date, not sure if the pills were any help with the fact of her coming on time, but thought why not just take again... never know. But it does give me an upset stomach.
