what does newborn diarrhea look like?

Doc had told me I might find her having less bowel movements on formula. Maybe a little less but just now and once yesterday, I opened her diaper and she had pooped (brown with some seeds left from the breastmilk). I heard her pass some gas and then she pooped twice more into the open diaper. Not to be graphic or tmi but it looked like soft serve, texture wise, coming out. Is this just normal texture for newborns? I felt like her poop the da before yesterday had a bit more form to them. She hadn't pooed all night and had been passing gas. Is this just her getting relief or should I be worried it's diarrhea? She has also been a little gassy. Hoping it's not the formula bc she has been generally great with it...no spit up, etc. Figured I'd ask u girls and maybe spare my poor doc w/a call!

Thst sounds normsl. When they have the runs, you will know. Chat Icon it is kind of like (tmi) when we have our periods and it soaks under the pad, thsts how it will be in the diaper. But soft serve poop is normal. Chat Icon

Definitely sounds normal.

It will take a few days for her system to get used to the formula as well.

Thank u. Everyone has opinions on why she's crying and what's wrong and it overwhelms me. I have spent a few nights crying, myself...
Not to mention my puppy can be trying at times!!

Normal.
Newborn poop is very soft and mushy.
Darrhea would be very watery- where you can actaully see the liquid.

Chat Icon I know everyone wants to help but it can get very overwhelming with too many opinions. In all honesty follow your gut instincts they are usually 99% right.

Doesn't sound like Diarrea to me...what you described is normal.

Have you tried swaddling to soothe her?
If you are concerned, I would call her Dr. so you can have some peace of mind!

she loves to be swaddled but she also loves her bottom half covered and her arms overhead. :) she's calm now that she got her poops out. sleeping in her bouncy. dog sleeping, too. momy's gonna dry her hair and have some more coffee. I can't express enough thanks to this board for having good, rational advice. Chat Icon
