What do you need right away?
What are the things that we are going to need for the baby during the first 3 months or so? Like when do we start using the bouncer or swing? Is it that early? We probably won't be having many people buy off the registry and those who are don't have a lot of money in this economy so I only want to register for things that we will need right away. Then, DH and I can get tht other things as they come up.

You dont really "need" anything other than a crib. You can use a swing and bouncer right from the beginning.
The things that are later on, 4-5+ months are a highchair, jumper, excersaucer, walker, etc.

Car Seat and Base
Snap n Go if you want to go anywhere...
Bouncer (my DD would only sleep in her bouncer from day 1 until about 2 months)
bottles
diapers
wipes
basic clothes

Not a necessity but if you are looking for gear items the Fisher Price Rock n Play is my favorite! DS has been in it since the day he came home from the hospital (for naps during the day and for playing while we eat, etc). Highly recommended.

onesies
socks
sleepers

very useful but not needed.
some sort of rocker -
FP newborn to toddler rocker. Ds took naps in there when he was a newborn sometimes.
swing-
fp starlight papasan swing - ds was in it when he was a newborn and it was nice it plugged in instead of batteries... some of the other swings aren't really for newborns.
stroller -
great for walks with newborn.
