What do you make pastina wiith?
Sorry if this has been asked before.
DS got the ok from ped to eat pastina. Do I make it with tomato sauce? Chicken broth? Anything else to make it tasty?

My DS doesn't really eat it anymore, but I would boil veggies (broccoli, spinach, carrots, peas, anything really!) with the pastina in water with a little butter. I'd then smash up the veggies and he loved it!

DS has a milk allergy so I couldn't do butter or cheese..I put a little bit of olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. He doesn't really love the texture, so when I do give it to him I mix it with a veggie...that makes it creamier.
It def. took a couple of times for him to like it..and I still don't think he loves it..lol

Boil it in chicken broth, then mix in some butter and Parmesan (or locatelli, as a PP said).

I just boil it in water like I would make pasta. I mix a veg purée with it.

I made it for DD for the first time last night. I mixed it with butternut squash and green bean purees and she loved it. That's saying a lot since she very rarely finishes a meal lately.

Don't be afraid to try anything really... I never asked my ped anything about table foods... Dd started to become interested in the food we were eating so now anytime I'm eating anything, I let her try... In the pasta family, my dd has already had spaghetti with homemade sauce, Mac and cheese, and even lasagna! She's also had pulled beef in a red wine sauce, grilled cheese, French fries (which surprisingly she didn't care for... I'm thinking the texture)... I even let her try pieces of a pickle as well yesterday and she had no issues with it LOL. She loves pretty much anything...
As long as you are responsible and make sure food is peeled, cut up right, etc, I dont see much as being off limits... I just stay away from berries as per ped advice (bc of acidity issues)

I made some for dinner! Lol! I boiled it with chicken broth and just used the spray butter when it was finish! I love pastina!

We use chicken broth & even have used pork broth/stock sometimes. For us its a PITA to strain if you want to make with butter. We are starting to use bigger pasta now.
