what do you ladies think i should do about work
I am due sept. 26th and I'm planning on working after the summer vaca. starting sept. 5th (i think) Do you think I should consider starting my leave before my due date.
The only reason why I would want to (aside from having the baby or doc's orders) is that i don't want to be teaching and have my water break. I don't need the kids seeing that.

That really depends on your financial status. I would love to take off before my due date, but I get no maternity leave. I need to keep working to have money for the baby. If you have enough leave and enough money to take off as much as you need after the birth, then you might want to take off before your delivery!

Re: what do you ladies think i should do about work
I'm also a teacher and I worked until 2 days before my delivery date and am glad that I did...for me, I wanted to be able to keep my 12 weeks for after the birth..there were definintely hard days and it was exhausting, but I am so glad that I stayed active and it definintely took my mind off of the birth, etc. For me, it was the best choice! Good luck!
ETA: I was also petrified of my water breaking at school, but the doctor assured me that most women don't have their water break without contractions/labor

Its hard for anyone to say except yourself. Im 34 weeks and couldnt imagine sitting home for the next month just waiting. As tired as i am and will be in the next few weeks, i prefer to keep moving. Its a personal decision.

I agree. I technically worked up until the end with my 2nd...and I was beyond antsy. I even went to an appt. and was told I was 3cm and had a contraction and returned to my office afterwards. I would've gone nuts sitting around waiting, work kept my mind slightly occupied...I had to focus on SOMETHING else. However, with my first, I desperately needed some time off (unfortunately due to having my babies early, I only got a week off) and took it.

I agree that it is your own individual situation that dictates it. Personality and finances kinda drive the decision. Can you stay home and not go nuts? Afford to stay home? I couldn't pass up my paycheck just to relax at home. Granted it's hard to get up in the am, but working is helping these last few weeks to fly by. I'd hate for my water to break here, but I want to max out my time with my baby.

I am also a teacher and I plan on working until one week before my due date so long as I feel okay
You may want to get into school get to know your students and then leave with a week or two to go if it is too much for you that is what a coworker did two years ago
