What do you do when your DC won't burp?
Sometimes she burps right away after a feeding and sometimes she doesn't. I hate putting her down when she doesn't, but how long should I burp her for? Sometimes I try for like 10 minutes and nothing!

if i cant get a burp, but she is gassy. i lay her on her back and bring her knees to her chest hold for a few seconds then stretch her legs out and repeat a few times. DD loves it and usually if no burp, ill get a toot from the tush. either way gas is out and she is happy.

Are you putting her high up on your shoulder? That's the best way to get burps from a tricky burper. If you're not comfortable doing that, you can put her down on your lap with her belly on your legs/knees and try that.

Sometimes babies don't burp...honestly. My rule of thumb was 10 minutes to try to get a burp and if he wouldn't then I would stop.
Usually Lucas was easy to get a burp from..by the time he was 2 months he would burp on his own. But in the begging if he wouldn't burp I would alternate between holding him high on my shoulder and putting him on my knew with his chin in my hand. Sometimes rubbing his back worked but usually I would have to pat it.

Do you BF? I know they say that breastfed babies don't always have to burp. Unless you see your DD is really uncomfortable or keeps spitting up after a while, I would "give up" after 5 or so minutes.

Clover is very gassy. I burp her before I start a feeding, after the first once and that's it. She doesn't always burp though. I put her in a sitting position and hold her head when burping her.

That's what we had to do with DS when he was a NB. He would not burp much. The shoulder hold was the best.
DS is on BM. I talked to a LC consultant about it at the time. She told me that burping was overrated. It's OK is they don't burp that much. They may get gassy though.
