What do you consider "in moderation"?

Regarding certain things that we are only supposed to eat "in moderation" - how much time is this for you? Is it once a week? Once every couple of weeks? Once a month? Twice during pregnancy?

I'm specifically talking about hot dogs in this case. I am dying for one and might hurt someone if I don't have it. But I had one less than two weeks ago.

Thanks!

I take in moderation as 1x per week in that instance. I would also drink more water since they are very salty!

You can buy nitrate free hot dogs. As long as they are cooked well you have nothing to worry aboutChat Icon (like listeriosis)

I think you're ok, just don't make it a habit having them every two weeks. I was dying for one or threeChat Icon during memorial day weekend and had them, and got the need out of my system, but ITA on the water, they are soooo salty!!!

Listen, you can have a hot dog. Have 3 if you want, just drink water!

No preggo police is going to come find you if you eat them.

And you'd be surprised at how fast all of those "rules" go out the window when you can't keep food down. I had hyperemsis and my doctor oked everything for me as long as I could keep it down and stayed hydrated!

I was just going to say this! I was craving bacon and went without until I found organic bacon... (organic doesn't have nitrates or nitrates...)

personally, anything that's supposed to be eaten 'in moderation' I avoid completely. No caffeine, no rare meat, no nitrites/nitrates....
