What do we use to...
clean the cord?? All i am reading is about a cotton swab...but does anything go on it???

You're supposed to clean it with alcohol often to dry it out. I've read that there are no nerve endings in the cord so it won't sting

Actually there is new evidence that alcohol doesn't speed up the time it takes to heal so most dr.'s have adopted a less is more approach.
Most people either leave it alone or use alcohol.

True.
With my son I was told to use alcohol. It took WEEKS to fall off!
With my daughter I was told to leave it alone and keep it dry and it fell off after 6 days!

I was told to completely leave it alone and clean around it. No alcohol or anything. It too about 10-12 dayd to come off.
