what do I use for baby footprints?

I heard they can take babys footprints on the hospital and that I should bring something for the prints in the hospital that I can save and frame. Any ideas how to do this or what to buy? Tia

this is a great q's ~ I would like to know too.

With my DS we took a prenatal class and the nurse who did the class gave us this awesome certificate and since she worked at the hospital we were able to bring it in and use that for the footprints ~ Not taking this class with this lo (plus going to a different dr and hospital) but I wanted to get the footprints from this lo also.

could you buy heavy matte paper from an art supply store and bring that with you to the hospital?

What works best is a "clean touch" ink pad (like the one that comes with this frame: http://pearhead.com/product_detail.php?id=235 )

Basically, you press the baby's foot or hand into the paper and the print comes out on the paper behind it without actually getting ink on them.

I had bought a birth announcement kit on clearance at BRU two years ago that had this sort of ink pad in it. So I paid like $7 but just used the ink pad to take her foot prints. But there's gotta be a way to find that without purchasing another item... I'm just having a hard time finding it.

DH friend was wearing a white t-shirt when his daughter was born. they stamped his shirt after taking her footprints.

eta: maybe get a white t-shirt made up for your DH to wear that day?
