What do do/say - loss of spouse
A dear friend lost her husband recently and Im seeing her for the first time this week. I know there is nothing I can do or say to take away her pain but was there anything anyone said to you or did for you that helped even a little bit? I dont want to keep bringing it up, but I dont want to ignore it either. Was going to bring her flowers or baked goods but thats what we do on happy occasions so I just dont know.

What do do/say - loss of spouse
we all have the urge to say "call me if you need anything" but that is putting it all on the other person. If you want to say something, just let her know how sorry you are for her lose and, let her tell you as much or as little as she wants. Instead of asking her to call. tell her you will be calling her in a week just to check in. You can make this call a few time in the month spreading it out. If she has kids, offer to help, cook them a meal with a set day to bring it. Just calling and letting her know she is on your mind is always nice.
