What constipates your LO?

DS is 15 months and has daily bowel movements that are very hard and sometimes bleeds from straining .. My doc suggested miralax , which I use and it helps, but I also want to adjust his diet. I know about apples, corn, carrots etc ... What about avocados??? Are those binding? My ds eats them a lot .. TIA

Bananas are a big one too.. DS loves them but I have to limit them because he suffers with constipation also.
Definitely need to limit milk, yogurt, cheese and other dairy etc.
I try to give lots of pears, peaches, etc
He also gets prune juice watered down every day. Sometimes miralax every other day if necessary.

About 18 oz a day.. But 2 percent... He did have a milk allergy when he was an infant.. And just tested neg. on his allergy tests. Do you think that's too much?

Dairy, definitely. That is the #1 culprit of constipation.

If it's making him constipated than any amount is too much. Try giving him none at all, there are a lot of substitutes like rice milk and almond milk.

Thanks, I was giving him yogurt every morning, now trying to give every other or every two days..peaches def. help him more than prunes.

I thought at this age milk was important for nutrition/developmental/purposes..is that an old wives tale?

Sometimes bananas do. I'd think avocado would help b/c they are fatty.

That fat is what is important in the milk.
That is why they say whole milk from 1- 2 years old.
If they are getting that same fat from other sources, it is fine.
