What are your thoughts on

...mullets?

I ask because I saw two hardcore ponytail mullets today in two different locations. I recognize that we all have different styles (or in my case NO style) but for the most part, I think we get our style cues from popular culture. I simply NEVER see mullets in magazines or movies (unless set in the 80s).

What do you think pepetuates this particular hairstyle as well as styles that are not popular in a current time?

(BTW, I am sure this will be moved but I like to live on the edge a bit)

I officially have too much time on my hands with this post, but let it be known I am not looking to ridicule - this was just an observation and commentary.

However, I will say that my 2 year old daughter is sporting one right now. Business in the front...party in the back. It's growing in like that, I totally did not cut it or anything.

My DH thinks that mullets are hysterically funny. I suspect that the mullet was the last hairstyle he had before he went bald. In photos there is nothing in between mullet and very short balding style.

And I am going to be so totally politically incorrect but certain things go together so people feel inclined that if they have one, they should have the other: like mullets and pick-up trucks. I can see it now-- the backlash from the non-mulleted pick up truck drivers just b/c I said that.

Ugh. I've seen a bad one too. A femullet even.

Mia Michaels, a judge and coreographer on So You Think You Can Dance is sporting a really confused femullet these days and it looks horrible on her.

She dresses like a dirtbag most of the time too so it's just not a good look.

My neighbor has a mullet. I kid you not she rocks it too. I cant look at her without thinking "Dont tell my heart, my achy breaky heart".

I soooo had a mullet when I was like 5. I wanted long hair, my mom wanted me to have short hair so she didn't have to deal with it. Apparently it was a compromise

u see a lot of mullets in fl...we went to the monster truck show and they had a "best mullet" contest. the saddest part - they were real mullets, not wigs

I saw a mullet in Baltimore on a little girl, but the long part in the back was separated into
PIG TAILS with little pink bows.

There is nothing better than a good mullet spotting! I love them!
