What am I doing wrong?
I am looking to lose about 5-10 pounds, so two weeks ago I got back on my healthy track. I started eating healthier during the week and cut out wine during the week. I haven't really noticed a change in weight at all. Nothing.
I will give you a sample of what I eat.
Breakfast: Hard boiled egg on whole grain bread cup of tea with skim milk
Lunch: Dinner leftovers such as baked fish with a veg or roasted veg with cous cous. I had crabcakes on a roll one day, but they were baked crabcakes.
Dinner: Same as above.
Snack: I had a cookie here and there this week, but it is just one cookie, I don't go crazy. Usually I have a banana or some almonds. Sometimes I have a skim latte.
My exercise consists of going to the gym 3 days a week. I do 2 Pilates reformer classes a week and do 30 mins of cardio on the treadmill (intervals) or elliptical. On the third day I do about 45 mins of cardio. I try to get in one hour walk on the weekend.
This has worked for me in the past and now nothing. I know it has only been two weeks, but I thought I would see at least something. My clothes fit only a little bit better. I really thought I would see something because I stopped with wine during the week (I was having at least 2-3 glasses of wine a night). Now I just have wine on the weekends.
Any suggestions? Should I add another gym day?

One thing to think about is where you are in your cycle. You could be retaining water.

I was thinking the same thing. I've been trying to drop about 5lbs. Lost a pound last week but this week nothing. I'm 100% sure it has to do with PMS!

Re: What am I doing wrong?
It sounds pretty good to me. If you want to see faster results I would add more cardio. Have you been doing this same exercise routine for a while or did you just add this two weeks ago?

I have been doing this routine for a while, but I hadn't been to the gym for a few months before the 2 weeks. I am adding in weights this week for the arms. I've never done that before.
My problem is cardio isn't my favourite. I've tried a lot of stuff: spinning, kickboxing, aerobic classes. I can tolerate intervals on the treadmill and the elliptical. I plan to get a bicycle when we move and bike more. I like that.

I don't know how old you are - but it is harder to lose the older you get.
I think you need to step up your cardio...if you need to do it with intervals - see if that helps.

I'm almost 32. That number sounds so scary.
I don't like getting older right now.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
Jillian Michaels has a whole book on this ("Making the Cut"). Basically, what she says is that when you only have 5-10 pounds to lose, your body thinks it's at a healthy weight. Psychologically you think you'd be happier if you could fit into your skinny jeans but physiologically your body is happy where it is and is fighting to stay there.
She promises in the book to get those 5-10 pounds off in 30 days if you stick to a meal plan in which you eat your BMR for calories (BMR calculator) and workout HARD, REALLY HARD for 4-5 hours a week - she gives you the exercise plan for each day. You can't have any alcohol or caffeine because both tax the adrenal glands and you have to drink lots of water. She stresses that it would be impossible to keep up that lifestyle for more than 30 days but once you have that weight off you can go into "maintenence mode" and live life normally again.
I was on the plan for a little over 2 weeks and lost 4 pounds, but then I got the flu (it was January) and was too sick to work out for a couple of weeks. After that, I just didn't feel like starting all over again. But I was already a size 6 with very little to lose, so to lose 4 pounds in 2 weeks was pretty amazing.
You can probably get the book on ebay for $8 by now. Good luck!

Re: What am I doing wrong?
I drink a bit over two litres a day.
I'm going to check out that Jillian Michaels book. I just don't know if I can devote 4-5 hours of working out, but I can try. It makes sense what you are saying about healthy weight. My weight is healthy, but I am short and when I gain 5 pounds it shows.
Thanks!
ETA: I thought it said working out 4-5 hours a DAY when I read that about the Jillian Michaels book.

Could you imagine that just for 4-5 pounds?

Re: What am I doing wrong?
That is a great book and a great workout! It still sounds to me you need more cardio. Jillian has that in her program as well. Without the cardio you'll lose but it will just be slower...

Re: What am I doing wrong?
I recently lost a bunch of weight by going from 5 days of working out to 6 days. I added 1 day of 45 minutes cross training cardio and full body weight training. I also replaced my cardio only day with 30 minutes of cross train with an hour of weights again.
So I run 3x a week, spin 1x, cross train + weight train 2x.
As for diet, I cut out sugar and sodium. My problem was that i was put on prednisone and was determined not to gain weight and instead lost 15lbs! I do eat a bit of desert on the weekends and regular food...but basically eat all clean foods and very little flour based products.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
Thanks all!
I've added on another day of cardio at the gym. I'll see what happens. I'm going to get that book, but I don't know if I can NOT have wine on the weekends. I just don't think that is realistic for me. DH and I love to share a bottle on the weekends.

Try adding some resistance training to this day of cardio too, I'm really certain you will notice a difference!
Good luck!
