What age? video games
When did your LO play video games or any of the video games systems like Xbox or Wii?
DS is 4yrs old. He plays all games and other stuff on the Ipad or other handheld toys he has, but has never played a video game. Not trying to push it on him or start a drama thread. Just wondering when your LO has played. Asking also bc we were at a friend's house a few weeks ago for a party. They have older kids. My DS was playing with another little boy his age and they started playing Wii. The other boy knew how to play, but my DS had no clue what he was doing bc he's never played. Not that the kid was doing well, but knew how to move the guy. We do have a Wii system that hasn't been played with probably since before I got pregnant with DS1. Now DH wants to take it out to show DS how to play some games.

Re: What age? video games
You know, mine are 2.5 and 4.5 and aside from some educational iPad games, I've kept them away from the video games. They are both TV freaks and I KNOW once I start, it's going to be a 'thing' -
I bought the kinnect sensor for DH's 360 for 'all of my boys' for Christmas with the sports, dance and star wars game - it's interactive and physical
For now, I'd rather them do that, then push buttons - I'm sure the day will come that I can no longer avoid it though !
ETA - We have the Wii too, bought around the same time as you ..........I think it's been turned on twice. I'm not a video game person.

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking. Have been trying to avoid it. My boys love TV as well. I was thinking a Wii, kids game eventually. Just not ready to get them into that. Plus, I know we'd wind up putting it in the basement and I would have to stay down there too.

What age? video games
I tried just before she was 5. She got bored. I got kid games Dora and Madagascar. She prefers our tablet. She also prefers *I* play her games. Well hell no to that. I play MY games and she can watch. We started to play Marvel Universe again to just get her into it but again, she plays for a bit and gets bored because we are so engrossed in it.
She is used to us interacting with her when it comes to games so consoles are a turn off. She basically hates anything where a computer takes over human interaction. She makes us watch her play games on the tablet LOL we have a whole celebration dance we do.
She's 5. Rarely uses the tablet these days, doesnt like the Play Station, will SOMETIMES use the computer (mouse/keyboard) but prefers to the tablet, if at all. She'd rather be on the floor with a dozen Mazes to solve.

Re: What age? video games
DS and DD begged for the Disney Infinity for Hanukkah and we gave it to them. DS plays with it the most. He is 6 1/2. DD is 4 1/2. She plays with it a lot less, but still tries to play with it. Mostly she likes to jump up and down and laugh at the screen as Sally jumps with her (she pushes the jump button) and thinks it is hilarious.

Re: What age? video games
My 3 year old has almost no interest. My 5 year old plays some Wii games, like Mario Kart and Wii Sports/Sports Resort. Seriously we have not found a person who can beat her at bowling. I don't mind her playing b/c we limit her time and they are at least active games.
