what age did your kid start playing games like Wii?

Jack will be 4 and a few of his friends play video games...wondering what age is appropriate and if we should get him one?

Eddie started playing Wii a little less than a year ago (hell be 4 in sept). He has the Wii sports down to a science, and frequently kicks my @ss in bowling and tennis. He has a Wii game called KidFit that he plays and a Disney Cars racing games which he cant really do at all, but likes to try anyway. he can work the thing and the set ups himself once you show him a few times.

My friends son is 3 and plays, but its annoying bc she has to set it up and change charcters and restart new game etc.

I think it is a touchy subject.

Some of Josh's 4 year old friends have them...seems like the ones who don't have passionate parents who are strongly against them.

I won't bring one into my home until atleast 10...I would love to make it closer to 13 but who knows...

I just feel like right now, it would become his obsession...and I really love that building and crafts are his obsessions right now.

We don't have Wii but, DS plays a variety of games on my computer all by himself - not sure if that is the same thing though. He is 3.5 and has been doing this for a while.

DS started at 3. We have to set it up for him. DH is a really big gamer though. DS is only allowed to play for 30 minutes once a week.

Not sure what we will do, but I think we will be the holdout parents, compared to his peers.

I do know my friend got her son one just after he turned 6 and said that most of his classmates already had one.

Yea- I def think I will wait longer for this. My nephews just got it for Christmas and they are 7. I just didn't want him to be the only kid out there his age who doesn't play this.

My DD is 5 and while we have Wii, I'd say she has only played it 2 or 3 times. She does like to play my niece's DS but I won't get her one of her own. I too feel she is just too young, and there is no need. She loves to draw, color and play outside now that it is nice out. I'd prefer that she continue doing those things. She IS however addicted to the TV when we are home in the house, but I figure over the summer I can break that habit.

DD will be 5 next month. We have had it for like 2 years and she plays it like twice a year lol. We don't have many games so maybe thats why but I just don't wanna spend $30-$50 if she doesn't play it.

DD will be 5 in a few weeks. She tried it at a friends and had a hard time with it. She has a leapster handheld and a vsmile console for the TV and plays both of those maybe once a week. I dont plan on getting a wii for another yr or 2.
