Were these BH? Something else?

Last night I think I was having braxton hicks, but it's so hard to tell and I want to make sure they weren't actual contractions, cause I'm way too early for that. (28 weeks and 4 days)

FH and I went to walk to a movie. It was a decently long walk, but nothing too crazy. During the walk, I started feeling sort of uncomfortable in my stomach. Not painful. It was sort of tightening, and would stay that way for awhile. But it was happening every couple of minutes while we were walking. It had actually happened earlier in the evening as well, while I was still at work. The movie was sold out and we went home, so as soon as we got back home, I drank lots of water and put my feet up. I fell asleep pretty quickly and have felt fine since. Were these Braxton Hicks or something else???

Sounds like them to me. I've never had them so I don't have first hand knowledge but from what I was told at my childbirth class and from what I read, they sound exactly like it.

Re: Were these BH? Something else?

I'm 23 weeks on Tuesday (2nd pregnancy) and I actually just called my OB about this yesterday...For the past week or so I've been having the exact same thing, just an overall tightening- no cramps or real discomfort, my belly just feels tight and hard to the touch....The NP at the OB told me I may just be a little dehydrated and have been on my feet too much- She said if I notice them becoming more frequent, I need to call backl but she did say it is also the body preparing for the real thing....With my DS, I didnt get these until much later on- I get them about 3-4 times a day...you may just want to give the office a call and ask them what they thing for piece of mind Chat Icon

#1 always call your doc, unfortunatly we're not doctors...

does sound like BH to me, i am told as long as you dont have a "pattern"/dont get 6 in an hr my doc is not over concerned.. i am 24-25 weeks and have been getting them since 15 weeks... i thought it was normal cause i remember my SIL getting them and she didnt seem nervous about it... @15 weeks i didnt realize what it was, i thought it was tightening of ligaments...

i called doc when i started cramping @ 22 weeks (i dont cramp at same time as the BH)... they told me 22 weeks was too early i shouldnt feel them till, i think she said, 24 or so.. even then it should be infrequent... i get 10-20 a day, but they are all over the clock and have not had 6 in an hour..

i was told if you start having them drink 1-2 glasses of water and ly on your side for an hour, and count how many you get in an hour

my doc also said it is normal for some people and tends to notice it happening to thinner ppl.. but obviously better safe than sorry...

i have also read a few times on different sites they do start early 2nd trimester but most never feel them... so while it is a "sign", it could be totally normal as well!..all the other signs of something bad are all normal changes during pregnancy too.. it's been very frustrating!

but better safe than sorry, always!
