We're having a .....
!!!!!!
Anatomy scan came back great except Dr. saw one "soft marker" which was a cyst on the head. She said it usually goes away on its own and wasn't worried about any chromosomal abnormalities since there was only one and no other issues were present. My blood work and NT scan during the first trimester came back clear so she said that was more of a reason for her to not worry but she has to mention it b/c it's her job...
Anyone have any experience with this? She said she sees it all the time but I still can't help but worry a little.

Congrats on !!
I had the same soft marker on baby girl's head. I clearly remember being told not to google and of course it was the first thing I did when I got home. Listen to your dr. She is absolutely correct. My obgyn had the same reaction and said it is very common and they have a tendency to go away on their own. It's just a soft spot on the baby's head that comes up on the sono and then fills in. At my next sono, which was about 4 weeks after discovery, nothing to be found!! I know it's nerve racking, but try not to worry too much.

Thank you! I'm trying not to worry but it's definitely easier said than done. While I'm elated about our baby boy, every time I think about the "soft marker" I start crying. I just want him to be healthy.

Re: We're having a .....
I completely understand. I was the same way, emotional mommas to be, already worrying about our LOs. DH is always level headed and really helped me stay calm during this time. Rely on your SO. I know it's a difficult time but stay strong and have faith that it will all be ok.

Re: We're having a .....
First, congrats on your little man!
I had the same soft marker, and a two vessel umbilical cord and my NT scan results weren't perfect (slightly elevated risk for down's). Even though my OB told me not to worry, I was definitely freaked out and spent much of the month between my Anatomy Scan and follow up fetal echocardiogram a blubbering, crying mess. Definitely stop googling, as hard as it is to do, that just made things so much worse for me. At my f/u, the cyst soft marker had disappeared, but the umbilical cord was still an issue, so while I received extra monitoring the rest of my pregnancy, I'm happy to say DD is almost 8mo and is absolutely perfect!! I'm sure your little guy will be just as perfect.

Re: We're having a .....
Congrats!! My baby also has a soft marker (calcification on the heart) so I understand why you are worried. I spoke to a genetic counselor who eased my fears. Since there are no other markers and my blood work came back normal she said the odds of the baby being born with downs was slim to none. At 33 weeks I feel in my heart that this baby is perfect and I think yours is too

Re: We're having a .....
Congrats on !! I have a "soft marker" that's being monitored too -- baby's kidneys are dilated and actually appeared larger when I went for a follow-up sono at 24 weeks.
They said the same - that it clears up 90% of the time without any further intervention -- and because my bloodwork and NT results looked great, the chances are very slim will have Downs.
Hang in there!!

Thank you - I'm sure you'll have a perfect little boy or girl. I guess all this worrying now only prepares us for what's to come.
