went to the doc today
and found out the cord is loosely wrapped around the neck. i know its not uncommon and babies are delivered perfectly healthy with the cord wrapped, but i will still be on edge for the next 6 weeks. anyone else have the same issue? did you do anything specific or just pay more attention to movements?

Just wanted to send some  . My son was born with the cord wrapped twice around his neck, loosely. They had no idea until he came out. And I had no idea until much later, when they were sewing me up and the doctor told me. He said it was not a big deal at all, as soon as the head came out, he unwrapped it, and then we kept going. He ended up with some minor bruising on his neck from it, but 6 days later, it's totally gone. What did your doctor say about it? Being that they already know, I would think you would just want to stay aware of the movement pattern and if the baby slows down a lot, then call the doctor. Like you said, it is very common though, not that it makes it any easier on you!

my doc said not to worry just monitor movements...i know i shouldnt worry but i can't help myself!

Hi,
I am in the same situation!  I am 34 weeks and my Dr. downplayed it as well. I am monitored weekly by a perinatologist and this happened at 31 weeks as well! The next week (32) she had moved and the cord was AOK. Week 33 same. And now she has it around her neck AGAIN!!! Praying it moves again! Try to think positive and pray. That's what I'm doing.

my DD was born at 33w with the cord wrapped around her neck (that had nothing to do with why we delivered at 33w).
it was such an afterthought that i only found out about it after getting my medical records from the hospital over a month after delivery (i was under general anesthesia so i was asleep for my csection).

DD was born with the cord around her neck also. She was fine...the dr just took her right away and Dh was unable to cut the cord. Try not to worry
