went over glucose # with doc.. SO CONFUSED
She said that my first 2 hours of the 3 hour test was great and my 3 rd hour was high was 144 and cut off is 140. Should i be concerned. I would think the 3 hour (the last of the 3 blood draws) my sugar would be lower. I just hope it isnt going misdiagnosed.

hmm...yeah...at my office the cut off is 135 for the last hour so I would have failed with your score.
The scores in my office are:
105 after the fasting hour
190 after 1st hour
165 after 2nd hour
135 after 3rd hour (this is a conservative number according to my doctor - many offices do 140 or 145)
I would definitely question it - because it seems like you are borderline. Just because the first two hours were okay, in the end the amount was still high (when it's supposed to be going down)

Wow. I was diagnosed with GD, yet I think I would've passed with these #s. My fasting was 104, and they said that was way too high, and my 1 hour was just around 190. So, I guess I was borderline, but the dietician I saw today made me feel like I was out of control.

190 after an hour?!?! I was 137 and they made me CRAZYYYY...
turns out i proved everyone wrong and am actually hypoglycemic..when i went for the nutritional counseling the lady laughed that i was even there because i eat better then she does lol
and when i brought home the monitor, i was LOW every single time i self checked...im talking in the range of 62-85...NOTHING HIGHER EVER IN 2 WHOLE WEEKS!!
IMO this test goes misdiagnosed VERY often!!

I read your other post and think your dietician was totally out of line!! You cannot control getting GD-it is simply how well your placenta processes the sugars!
As for the numbers I know my doc said they *prefer* the fasting number be below 94 although 105 is their official cutoff. Maybe its different in every office? I was "borderline" on my fasting hour with a 95 so I had to do it again , even though I passed the other hours with flying colors.

i am literally in the middle of a book and here is what it says - i JUST read this part - literally, not 2 minutes ago!
It's from 2006 - so things may have changed:
Gestational diabetes is diagnosed when two of the four blood draws from your GTT indicate higher than normal levels of glucose. Current guidelines define the cutoff for normal blood glucose levels as follows:
Fasting: 95 mg/dl
One Hour: 180 mg/dl
Two Hours: 155 mg/dl
Three Hours: 140 mg/dl

Yes, it should be lower at the 3 hour mark. Maybe it was. What was the level at the 2 hour mark. If the 144 is lower than that number, your level is going in the right direction. And 144 when the normal is 140 is really not considered out of range. It is less than a 5% difference so most docs consider it ok, especially if your other numbers were within range. As the poster before me said, since at least 2 of your 4 numbers were ok, your doc is probably considering you not to have GD. But if you're concerned about that 144, call your doc and have him clarify it for you.

yes after the one hour i was 137, BUT i tried explaining to them, that no one told me id ne taking the test that day, i wasnt fasted, AND it was my sons birhday so i made cupcakes for him to take to school that morning and right before my appt i ate TWO cupcakes, and a few spoons of frosting lmao ...
they said i shoulda been able to process that PLUS the drink...yea OK..
which is why i laughed at them when i was made to test 4 times a day and NOT ONE of my monitors came up high, they were all signs of hypglycemia..dr's dont always know!!
I had gastric bypass surgery so i KNEW i was NOT gonna be diabetic udring this pregnancy...its almost impossible
