Well it looks like I was right, DD is having a hard time...
with the new baby coming. I went to pick up D at school today. There was a note from her teacher stating: that the assistant teacher had had her baby this morning (we were due a couple of days apart) and that upon hearing that Miss Lisa had a little girl, my daughter threw the temper tantrum to end all temper tantrums. She threw herself on the floor and was kicking and screaming. The teacher is now concerned too. I had been telling her that I am nervous too.
I have a little over a week to go and I am just besides myself. I don't know what to do with her or to help her. We just tried making my mother's day gift for my mother and she freaked out over me writing her name on it.
UGH., I am just so worried about this whole thing.
Any advise please???

It will take time for her to adjust and I wouldn't push the baby on her. I would let her come to him. I also noticed a big decrease in tantrums once I had DS "help" me. He was young so their wasn't much he could do but he did throw out her diapers and he felt like he did something huge. My friend had her twins when her oldest was 27 months old and she bought her a baby and the stroller and the pack-n-play with bottles and she would mimic my friend.

Talk to her pediatrician and see what he suggests , maybe there are some good ideas that you dont know about ,like movies or groups or something ?
I hope everything works out for you !!

Re: Well it looks like I was right, DD is having a hard time...
I just had my dd 3 weeks ago. My ds is 2 1/2. I had been on bedrest for 4 months so he got very attached to me being around 24 hrs a day ( I am regularly a working mom) I couldn't leave the house to go to dr appts without him literally screaming the WHOLE time I was gone! For the last month he got very upset if I would say I couldn't do something b/c of the baby in my belly or if I reminded him to be careful around my belly. And the tamtrums really started to appear. Everyone said it was the terrible twos finally hitting but I was really concerned! When I had the baby I was a nervous wreck over him. As they wheeled me to recovery my whole family(all20-something of them) came to say hello. He looked at me with fear in his eyes. Then my DH brought him into recovery so it was just the 4 of us. All he kept repeating was the he wanted to go home with mommy and daddy! I was beside myself!! Well he came 2 days later to meet dd and we had her given him a gift. He was so excited over the gift and spending time with dh that he really didn't pay attention to her. When we came home she gave him another present ( a little bribing goes very far!). He has become the most amazing big brother. He absolutely loves her!
FM me if you want to talk more!

Thank you so much this sounds a lot like what we are going through.
Thank you so much everyone. She is truly giving me a run for my money these days. I will call the doctor tomorrow but I am not sure they will be a lot of help. I have tried books and videos. She has all the doll stuff already. I am just going to try the bribery stuff in the hospital because this point that is all I can think of.
