Weird- someone subscribed me to a book club ..

Weird- someone subscribed me to a book club ..
under my maiden name - and had the books delivered to my house with a bill attached.
I thought that was so strange
I tried calling customer service but they are closed already.
So I got 3 books- brand new hardcover- books i have never heard of from a site ive never heard of - the literary guild
Is this a scam to get me to buy the books? Why would someone send books to my house?

I've gotten cards or catalogs from that company to entice me to buy books from them. Generally, you get a few books free and then have to buy so many at a regular price.
Someone may have stolen the catalog from your mailbox (or intercepted it) and ordered books.
You should refuse the shipment and then call and tell them to cancel the membership.

yes i put a return to sender on it and hopefully my mail carrier will take it
i hope this company has regular phone hours.
the good thing is that a bill is attached so hopeflly no one stole my credit card, and if they did, well, its my maiden name and nothing is in that name
