He's stumped. He said he hasn't dressed in all silver since New Year's Eve 1997. Chat Icon

I'm asking b/c my SIL is Russian and my DH said this year, she wants a silver (or gold) tree and will be dressing from head to toe in silver (or gold) and I'm so perplexed WHY!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I can't find ANYTHING on this and I really don't want to ask her why! Word of mouth is that it's the year of the silver snake or something like that! I was born and raised in Russia and the answer is NO.

However, I have never heard of it being forbidden so if that's what someone wanted to do they always could!Chat Icon

Re: Weird question-Is there a tradition in Russia that requires a silver tree

i have a "gentleman friend" who was born and raised in russia and he gave me a funny look when i asked him. so i'm going to guess that the answer is no.

i guess you're going to have to ask her why Chat Icon

How funny you asked this question, my hairdresser is russian and I was in there tonight and she had pictures posted all over, in every pic she is donned head to toe in either gold, silver or copper. I was thinking it must be a russian custom lol, not only her but her sisters, daughter, even her son
