Weight gain with twins

Yesterday I went to the dr and all my doc talked about was my weight! Lol I left feeling like a disgusting slob. I'm 20 weeks prego with twins and gained 19 pounds. I didn't think it was too bad?

Sorry. End rant.

Re: Weight gain with twins

I am 21 weeks and at my 16 week appt I was upset about the weight gain. My Dr said it is normal for women pregnant with twins to gain 1 pound a week so you are right where you should be!

Weight gain with twins

Most of the weight gain with twins is in the second trimester, or so my doc says.

I'm just shy of 30 weeks and up about 25 lbs. I was up around 20 around 20 weeks - you are doing fine!

Also up twenty lbs at 20 weeks. My doctor was not concerned. I ask about weight gain every time, he always says it's normal.

I'm not having twins but when I was pregnant with my DS I was up 20lbs at 20 weeks- and he was just one! It really doesn't sound like a lot to me.

I'm also not having twins.. and I gained a majority of my weight at the beginning so at my 20 week I was up 19 pounds.. and now at 32 I am only up 22..
All I could eat is carbs from week 6-14.. I wouldn't worry

Thank you everyone for your replies! I really was upset after leaving. She said, "I know people say you're eating for 3, but don't."

I almost lost it. Lol!!

19 pds in 20 weeks especially with twins sounds to be about average of what I've read people are suppose to gain. How much did she want you to gain by now?

Were you underweight, overweight or average before pregnancy?

I gained 42 lbs during my twin pregnancy and 47 lbs during my singleton pregnancy.

Currently I'm up about 16 lbs at 18 weeks (singleton). Nobody has said a word!

I think that may influence what the doc says. I gained 75 lbs by the end (YES). Doc never said a word. The majority of it was by the end and it was due to swelling from pre e, but i was up about 25 lbs by 20 weeks (i think?) and he didnt say a word. I feel like as long as youre eating healthfully, your body is going to do what it needs to do.

Re: Weight gain with twins

I think as long as you are eating right and continue your normal exercise routine, there is nothing you can do to control your weight gain.

I am carrying a singleton and at first I was gaining about a pound a week. At 20 weeks, I was probably up 15 pounds. Now, I am 35+ weeks and have only gained 20-21 pounds total with very little gain over the last 7 weeks. I was a healthy BMI when I got pregnant.

I was at a normal BMI. I wasn't medically cleared to do my normal exercise routine which was running. Before I got pregnant I was running around 50 miles a month. My Dr said I was not able to run but I could walk and do some light exercises. Most people don't even think I'm pregnant still. I guess I hide weight well bc I'm on the taller side? Lol IDK! I think I might switch to another doc in the practice. I don't like how she dismisses important things I say but stresses over less important. So frustrating!! But thank you all for your replies!! :)
