I am curious if there is a website or anything on the average amount of weight you should be gaining at different milestones in pregnancy? I know everyone is different but maybe just a guidleline???

Re: Weight gain in pregnancy

Weight Distribution
7 ½ pounds is about how much the baby will weigh by the end of pregnancy
1 ½ pounds is how much the placenta weighs
4 pounds is attributed to increased fluid volume
2 pounds is the weight of the uterus
2 pounds is the weight of breast tissue
4 pounds is because of increased blood volume
7 pounds is attributed to maternal stores of nutrients and muscle development
2 pounds for the amniotic fluid
Total: 30 pounds
On a Trimester Basis
First trimester: 1 pound per month
Second trimester: 1/2 a pound per week
Third trimester: 1 pound per week

Re: Weight gain in pregnancy

i was told 20lbs for a woman who was average weight before being pregnant which equals out to 1/2lb a week. that's supposedly the new guidline. i don't really have a problem with the 20lbs per say (though i'm sure i'm goig to go over) but the evenly distributed weight gain seems a little off to me. That seems to be a small amount to gain for average weight woman.
My Doc explained it this way.
15-20- if grossly overweight before pregnant
20-25- if slightly overweight
25-35- if average weight
30-35- if underweight
