Weekend getaway suggestions
Dh and I are in need of a getaway. Have to stay in the US since dh let his passport expire. We want somewhere beachy but sort of quite. We love good food but are not looking for casinos or clubs. Driving less than 2 hours or somewhere flying preferably out of ISP.

Essex, CT. It's absolutely beautiful, right on the water with the most quaint and adorable Main St. There is a really nice bed and breakfast right on Main, The Griswold Inn. We were in Essex a week ago and I was in love with it. It's 2.5 hrs from Stony Brook (where I live) if there is no traffic. You can take the Pt Jeff ferry, on the CT side Essex is about an hour east of the ferry. It's an easy straight shot on I-95.

If you want to fly, Sanibel Island, FL is exactly what you are looking for. Beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, quiet and peaceful.

Fly to Tampa from Islip and check out Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater. Amazinggggg.
Fly to FLL from Islip and go to Miami or Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort (Closet to FLL.than Miami).Another stunning resort

You don't need a Passport to go to St. Thomas or Puerto Rico. Also don't need one for a cruise that begins and ends in the US.
