Weekend Getaway?

We wanted to do a weekend getaway sort of thing- nothing too crazy, but something fun for a group of 20-somethings. We were thinking of a wine tasting or beer tasting tour. We don't want to do Montauk or AC. Any ideas?

Re: Weekend Getaway?

dogfish head was fantastic..it's in my delaware review-about 4 hours by car in delaware, and since it was off season rates we had 5 of us in a house for 65 each for 2 nights

sam adams in boston was about 3 1/2 hours, and there's tons to do in boston..def more expensive though

philly has yards brewing company..we're going there next summer

there's also a few breweries upstate

magic hat in vermont

troegs is in pennsylvania

can you tell i like breweries? lol

if you do a brewery, make the tour reservations WAY in advance though-they sell out like crazy

I'd suggest:

Boston, Mass - lots to do, great city, great for 20-30 somethings

Hartford, Conn. if you want a more city/brewery/bar scene OR you can do the conneticut wine trail - 24 vineyards but it's spread throughout - scenic though and you can choose to just visit some in the east or some in the west

Providence, Rhode Island - beautiful place and they have a TON of breweries supposedly.

or what about syracuse, ny? Is that too far? Nearby in Verona, NY they have the Turning Stone Casino/Resort which is really nice.

we went to greenport for the weekend.. it was very nice town. not far from the wineries and this time of the year you can go pumpkin picking. think they have a brewery in greenport as well.

Re: Weekend Getaway?

its a bit of a drive, but worth it. We went to the finger lakes during hurricane irene. Tons of wineries and vineyards. Also a bunch of breweries. And a few places for cheese tasting. A really nice area!!
