Wednesday's Gossip

English supermodel Kate Moss has run back into the needle-scarred arms of Pete Doherty. Our man in London spotted the co-dependent couple at Claridge's hotel last week, having a weepy reunion. Since then, against the wishes of her family and handlers, Moss has been holed up with the Babyshambles rocker in a $4,000-a-night suite at the Mayfair hotel for five days.

Apparently, Kate has forgotten that Doherty told the Mirror - which reportedly paid him $80,000 - that she was "jealous and suspicious" and "a nasty old rag."

Now they're said to be talking about a wedding and children. This, after Doherty's umpteenth arrest last week for suspected drug possession. Not to mention those British reports that a vet discovered a sickly kitty - born to Pete's cat Dinger (slang for syringe) - had cocaine in its system. Surely, he'll make a great dad.

Elsewhere among habit-prone Brit rockers, Keith Richards winked at England's new smoking ban on Sunday by eating a cigarette onstage. Amy Winehouse's bad behavior has sparked a call for a boycott of her records - from her father-in-law. Giles Fielder-Civil told the BBC that Winehouse and his son, Blake, are cocaine, crack and heroin addicts in "abject denial." He said fans should send a message to Winehouse "that her addiction and her behavior are not acceptable."

Finally, at London's Notting Hill Carnival on Monday, Lily Allen pushed reggae-mon Bobby Kray off the stage after wrestling the mike away from him. He retaliated by hurling a pint of Guinness at her.

OK! magazine is auctioning off the $5,700 Versace gown that Britney Spears wore during her disastrous photo shoot for the mag. Bidding on the dress begins at noon today on eBay; all proceeds will go to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).

A paparazzo may have helped save Lindsay Lohan a few bucks. TMZ posted a video of an irate man running down the street after Tiger Woods Monday night, angrily demanding an autograph. The catch: the Tiger-chaser is Giovanni Arnold, who rolled off the hood of Lindz's BMW on March 13, then claimed to have been hit by her, though witnesses say he dove onto her car. Arnold filed suit, claiming pain and suffering stemming from the accident. "He's been all over the city, gimping about with a cane," said one lensman who often sees him out. But the video of Arnold giving chase "is helpful," said Lohan's rep. "It's about time the truth comes out."

It's tough being the most famous couple on the planet. Earlier this year, the fabulous life of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie took them to the Caneel Bay Resort on St. John. The Caribbean island is a favorite for incognito celebs, because it is only accessible by boat and almost paparazzi-proof.

"Brad and Angie stated they only wanted to deal with one staff member during their entire stay," says an insider. So Rosewood, the resort's parent company, dispatched a marketing executive from New York to be their man Friday. "He had to do everything for them, including cook. Except he was this single guy and he didn't know how to cook," laughs the snitch. "He was freaking out."

A Caneel Bay spokeswoman declined to comment on the story.

"He did say Brad and Angelina were lovely," adds the source. "They doted on the kids and couldn't keep their hands off each other."

CNBC'S endless fawning over "Money Honey" Maria Bartiromo and her younger, fast-rising rival Erin Burnett has the network's lesser-known finance femmes on the warpath.

A source says reporters including sexy blonde Melissa Francis, who covers energy, have complained to CNBC suits that while they get zip, Bartiromo and Burnett are treated like princesses - with massive promotion, regular gigs on the "Today" show and "NBC Nightly News," perks such as limos and gushing quotes from network brass in newspaper articles.

"The catfight that started with Maria being jealous of Erin's rise has spread down the line. Now all of the other female reporters are getting p - - - ed off," our insider said.

"They're going to management and telling them they want equal treatment - better public relations, better placement on the air. They are all being divas now. It's gotten ridiculous."

CNBC brass have only themselves to blame for the in-house bitching, according to our source, who said, "It began when Maria was first caught in the Todd Thomson ethics scandal. They should have disciplined her then, but they went out of their way to defend her because she was the big star." Bartiromo raised eyebrows by accepting private international flights with Citibank honcho Thomson on the bank's corporate jet.

As we've reported, in recent months Brooklyn-born Bartiromo has fumed over CNBC's promoting of Burnett, a Maryland-bred farm girl who's seen by some as a fresher, less scandal-plagued version of the "Money Honey" and has even been dubbed "Maria 2.0."

CNBC bigwigs have continuously flattered Burnett in news stories about her rising star. This past Monday, a Washington Post article headlined "Looking Good at CBNC (Pretty, Too)" had CNBC senior vice president Jonathan Wald gushing, "She's smart and driven and really cares, and that comes through in everything she does."

CNBC has muzzled Bartiromo, Burnett and Francis, and declined our repeated requests to talk to any of them. But a network flack pooh-poohed the alleged rivalry, sniffing, "That's insane. It sounds like the jealousy is coming from outside the building."

Lindsay Lohan and her mother, Dina, have decided to allow Michael Lohan to visit his eldest daughter at her Utah rehab. "It was actually her older brother, Michael's, idea. It's a part of the healing process," a friend said. "Lindsay will see him later this week, but she will have counselors with her. It will not be alone." Michael - whose divorce from Dina is likely to be finalized soon, now that they've resolved most issues between them, including custody - hasn't seen Lindsay in years due to his abusive temper and violent behavior. In order for him to be allowed to visit, Dina - who has a restraining order out against Michael - had to get it lifted. "Dina thinks it is a good idea," the friend said. "Lindsay needs to deal with this and needs closure." Michael has said he's been sober and found God since leaving jail earlier this summer. A rep for the Lohans said, "Yes, he will be seeing his daughter."

WATCH out, K-Fed - your ex-wife is having you followed. In Touch reports Britney Spears hired California P.I. firm Lisa Javoric to investigate Kevin Federline, who's trying to win full custody of their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, by attacking her parenting skills.

GEORGE Lopez is a jerk. Our crack court reporter, Kati Cornell, was walking into the Regal E-Walk 13 on 42nd Street to see "Superbad" the other night when she accidentally came too close to the comic and his entourage. "His bodyguard put his hand on my chest and pushed me out of the way," Cornell said. "It was so absurd. He's a little pipsqueak, and he's got this big guard treating him like he's the president." Lopez's rep told us: "I didn't see anybody get hit. I told George and he said, 'What?' " Sorry, George, we take our reporter's word.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is one proud papa! His son, reportedly named John Edward Thomas Moynahan, was born Aug. 22. A source tells Star, "Before Tom jetted off to Los Angeles to see his little man and the baby's mama Bridget Moynahan, he called the posh baby boutique Petit Tresor to order and deliver a huge baby basket, valued at $2,000."

The source tells Star Brady requested all of the layette pieces come from the clothing line Petit Bateau in blue. He also asked that the store's staff throw in a couple of onesies, a sleeper gown, a bunch of plush toys from Kaloo, a cashmere blanket for those chilly nights, a nightlight so his tot doesn't get scared of the dark and a cashmere outfit.

As for Brady's girlfriend, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, she placed her own order for the new infant and his mommy just two days before Tom did.

Says the source, "Gisele dropped a cool $1,000 on a gift basket filled with a cashmere puppy, six different blankets, a cashmere sweater & pants set, a white onesie with the word "supermodel" written in black on the bottom (how appropriate) plus a handful of burp clothes and bibs."

Gisele's gift seemed heartfelt, according to the source. "She acted as if she was sincere." And as for Brady, "you could hear him bursting with excitement about becoming a daddy."

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are busy, busy, busy preparing for their bundle of joy. They're even purchasing tools to enrich the baby's mind!

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, the pair was spotted buying the prenatal education system by BabyPlus at Destination Maternity on Madison Avenue in New York City.

As soon as Richie spotted it in the window, a source tells Star, she walked into the store to pick one up.

"She was very specific," the source goes on to say. "She was asking a lot of questions about it." Before being escorted into a private area to try on a handful of clothes, the mommy-to-be made sure the $150.00 item was put aside for her to take, says the source.

Then, on Saturday, Aug. 18, the couple was seen shopping at Babies 'R' Us in Waterford, Conn. A few hours later they hit the Mohegan Sun Resort where Madden's band, Good Charlotte, was tapped to be the opening act for Justin Timberlake.

1. Oh Kate Moss, why do you do this to yourself? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

2. I realize that Gisele was trying to make a nice gesture, but did she really buy the newborn baby a cashmere pants and sweater set? Cashmere? Cashmere pants? For a baby? With drool? Odd.
