web site to check traffic?
is there a web site I can check local traffic before I leave the office?
Walk radio just shows a map but isn't detailed
news 12 is a video thing which I can't watch at work
mapquest has been my best option because it shows traffic levels, but i am looking for a detailed report something that actually lists the accidents?

Aside from the video on News 12, you can click on "traffic Tracker" which has a map of LI with little icons where there are accidents or traffic, etc.. you can zoom in and drag to your particular area
Go to News 12
click Traffic
then in the list on the left side, click Traffic Tracker (zoom in and drag in there)
or you can click on the tabs in there, like "incidents"

I used to just use 1010wins.com as well. You can also go to maps.google.com and click on "extras" and "show traffic" but it's not that accurate.

Google Maps usually has traffic updates when you type in your route. I have it for my droid phone and I love it.

ITA DH and I have this on our Blackberrys. Its AWESOME, and has really helped us out when taking road trips. It doesnt list the exact accidents but it shows where you are and how long the traffic is.
