Web-cam...which one?

I would like for my IL's to be able to SEE the kids, since they live in FL and don't see them in person very often. I know that you can talk via the computer using SKYPE, but I think I need to have a webcam set up with that. Can anyone tell me how this works?

Also, do my IL's need to have a webcam also...or can they just talk without us seeing them, but they can see us?

Are these webcams these days portable and small or big and bulky?

We have a Logitech one and it is pretty fancy. We use skype as well...my MIL lives in Florida too.

ETA: If you want to see them too, they need a webcam too.

Hey Kim,

I think you can get a web cam for as little as $20 and of course you can get ones that are more expensive.

We use Skype to talk to my brother and SIL in Atlanta and we both have web cams so everyone can see each other. But I don't see any reason why you couldn't just have one way video... as long as your in-laws have a computer with a microphone so they can hear and talk. They should be able to see the picture come up of you.

As for setting it up, we just installed the software for the web cam and then when we opened up Skype there was a link for us to start video (or something like that!)

Thanks girls. I know my FIL uses SKYPE all the time, but he doesn't use the video, so I know he has it set up already.

Any recommendations for a good webcam that won't break the bank?
