Weaning the Bottle at 12 months

How did you wean your DC off the bottle to sippy cups for milk? DD is having such a hard time with it. Also, which sippy cup do you use?

we tried at 12 months.... it was way too soon. She still really needed it. She is now 16 months and we are doing it again and it is so much easier. She still gets a morning and night bottle but honeslty I could probably even cut those. I use a soft top sippy. My ped said not to rush it or take them all away at once. He said as long as she is done with them by 18 months, he will be happy.

I did it gradually...I think its easier to start with mid-day bottles as they are not as much part of a routine as the morning and nighttime ones.

It took us quite a few months, but in my eyes our DD was still only a baby and I let her go at her own pace. She was completely done by 18 months.

ETA: We use the Nuby soft spout--they can kinda hold it like a bottle so I think it was a smoother transition.

I did it completely at 15 months. DS drank formula and then milk from bottles and water from a straw sippy. He knew how to do it but my dad (who watches DS 5 days a week) liked the convenience of the bottles. On the weekends I would give DS milk in his straw sippy. My dad went on vacation when DS was 15 months and at that point I took all bottles out of my parents house. No issues at all!

With both kids I started at 10 months old. By 12 months with totally took the bottles away and they had no problem with it.

I just stopped cold turkey at 15 months and had no problem.

Took all bottles away at 12 months and my DS was not happy. He stopped drinking milk from that day on. He only drinks water now from the straw sippy cup. He gets his dairy from cheese & yogurt

Cold turkey. DD fought it a bit for a week or two, but was fine after that.

with ds #1, I replaced the middle bottle first at 12months. I still kept the bottles for first & last feeding for a month since their milk intake usually decreases alot once you switch to sippy. At 13 months, we took both bottles away. Will try the same strategy for #2 & I hope it works as easily as it did with #1.

We stopped cold turkey a few days after his 1st birthday. There was a couple days of adjustments and crying, but after he got used to the new nipple he was fine.
