We had to cut down one of our dogwood trees.......

it LOOKED like it was healthy, but we had no idea just how bad it really was until we took it down....Chat Icon

the stick shows just how hollowed out it was from the disease Chat Icon

did you take it down b/c you "thought" it could have been sick, or b/c it was not landscape-correct?

no, we knew there was something going on....it looked okay, but it had some fungus all over the bark, (and on some of the leaves) we just didn't know the extent of it Chat Icon
dh took samples to the nursery and the guy confirmed it - can't remember the name of the disease he mentioned Chat Icon
as much as i miss it already, it was best that we took it down....it was too close to the front of the house and our bay window - couldn't take a chance that it would come down during a storm/heavy winds. Chat Icon

That's sad, but sometimes you just have to do that. Especially good since you said it was close to the house!
