we finally have a closing date!
September 21st, we will be homeowners. 
Oct. 3rd, the seller will actually move out! Anti-climatic, but the deal works out well for us.
Funny thing is that the first thing I want to do after we close is change my name.  We signed the contract before we were married and all paperwork and title is in my married name... After the 21st, watch out SS office, DMV, NY state bar, work, -- ugh, I'm tired just thinking about it!

Actually I see it as less time to finish all the interior work we need to do before we move! We will move in at the end of October.
In the meantime, we have to refinish all the wood floors, redo the kitchen, paint just about every room, and put up new dry wall in some spots. (Bye-bye ugly brick veneer!)
I complain - but I can't wait!

I understand completely! We were in the same place. Today is 2 months that we own our house and the kitchen remodel is almost done, but we still have to do some of the painting, gas conversion & cement. We are probably looking at the middle or end of October ourselves. It's not easy, but it's fun.
