Yay Spring!

We finally did it!!!
Yep - today we contracted for an addition to our house. It's about 1,000 square feet. The $$$ makes my head spin but I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end. I have to say I'm nervous though - I'm hoping everything runs smoothly. Now we just have to get the financing...

wow, a thousand square feet...I wish I could expand my house that much! paying for the contractor is one thing, i'm scared of tax increase!
but, congrats & yay! how exciting. remember to take before & after pics, love that!

Congrats! I was just talking to our contractor who put molding in our house about expansion today. I have a question though, do you know if you will have to put in another A/C unit to cool that much square footage? And what percent do you think your utilities will go up? I'm interested because I hope to expand a little in the far out future.

There will be two units - one for the expansion and one for the original part of the house. I don't have CAC now so I don't know how much it will go up, but we've been using three window units almost 24/7,so I can't see it being any worse than that.
