Water sono?

I have to have a water sono once I finish bleeding from my first AF post mc. I should be getting AF any day now and I'm already thinking ahead to what my next few steps are. My RE wants me to wait one full cycle before we TTC again. In the meantime he is planning this water sono and a uterine biopsy.

What is the water sono like? I've heard it's uncomfortable but is it painful? I'm so anxious over all of this but at the same time I just want to get through it and move on.

Re: Water sono?

I was terrified, but for me it was easy peasy. Lots of different experiences from the ladies on here too. Guess it depends on the patient and the doctor.

Basically...Speculum, cleaning cervix with swabs, insert catheter, take speculum out, insert transvaginal ultrasound probe, inject saline solution to get a good look at the inner lining of the uterus. The whole procedure is less than 10 mins. Speculum was uncomfortable, but it didn't stay in the whole time. I didn't have any pain or cramping during or after. I took 600mg ibuprofen 1 hour before.

Endometrial biopsy wasn't bad for me either. Definitely take ibuprofen an hour before. For me it was less than 5 minutes and I hardly had any cramping during or after.

Good Luck!!

Water sono?

It was uncomfortable an cramps, but manageable.

I took a few Advil 45 minutes prior.

Don't stress it!

Water sono?

Water sono wasn't even uncomfortable.

The biopsy was the worst thing I ever had to do.

I took Advil before the water soo and I still was uncomfortable- more like a cramp- I'm also not a fan of the dr who did it so that nigh have contributed to it.

The water sono wasn't uncomfortable at all for me. I didn't even know he had started and it was already over.

Re: Water sono?

I actually just had my water sono on Monday. I can't even tell you how worked up I got with the anticipation and nervousness of it all. I actually brought my Mom with me.

The procedure is relatively quick. I know everyone is different, but for me it was a feeling of very bad period cramps. And I took 3 Aleve before the test!

But the big baby that I was, I held and squeezed my mom's hand, until she told me to hold her hand; not dig my nails in. LOL

The key to get through it, is BREATHE! Deep, deep breaths knowing this will be over soon. And before you don't think you can take no more, they say, OK all done! It's the biggest relief!

I had to lay there for a second. Then as I got up, a swoosh of the saline fell outta me and onto the floor. I thought could this be what it feels like when your water breaks? Chat Icon

When it was done, I went to the bathroom to wear a pad for the rest of the day. Spotted some minor brown for the next day and that was it.

The best part of the test is knowing its all over and done with! Chat Icon

Wasn't bad. Took Advil before- definitely not worth getting too anxious about!

Water sono?

It was so easy. After doing the HSG the water sono was a walk in the park. It was like an IUI for me. No big deal at all. Mine was done in office.

HSG was the one that was really painful for me. Water sono I think was done afterwards and was a lot easier.

Re: Water sono?

How'd ya do with the HSG or water sono?
Just to add, with all of the issues I've had, only one Dr. suggested doing an endometrial biopsy and it wasn't the Dr. I did 6 cycles with!

Good luck and hugs
