water intake

for as long as i can rememer, i've always been a water drinker! when i got preggo, i wasnt that worried b/c i knew all i drank was water with every meal so i figured i'd be okay

in the past couple of weeks, i feel like i've been failing my baby b/c i really dont think i've been drinking enough water... just this week i started getting better about it & drink 2 cups on the way to work and make sure to drink all day & when i get home -- before during AND after dinner

so my question is, how much should we be drinking and do you think im horrible for not getting with it sooner lol

I drink about 100oz of water a day
I thought I was drinking enough before but then I started to get cramping so my doctor told me to keep track and try to drink 100oz of liquid a day (can include anything that doesnt have caffeine like juice)

I have a 30oz water jug that I drink twice while I am at work and then try to get the other 40oz when I get home through some juice or seltzer.

Re: water intake

i drink about 4 16oz bottles while I'm at work and maybe another glass when I'm home, so maybe 70 ozs total.

I'd say this is what I drink as well. I try not to drink too much at night when I'm home to limit the bathroom/sleep interruption trips!

Re: water intake

i was at the doc on monday. he told me i was dehydrated ~ i thought IMPOSSIBLE! i drink at least four 700ml bottles each day. which is equavalent to 9 glasses of water. he told me in this weather the whole 6-8 rule goes out the window. i should be somewhere near 10-12. so now i am like hanging out w/ a flood. i just drink water and walk to the bathroom! I've been having a hard time with water, too. In the morning, it makes me sick, so I don't start drinking it until about noon.
I also make it a point to eat water-rich foods like watermelon and cucumber--it's not really soup season, but broth-based soups count toward your water intake.

Re: water intake

I fill up a 20oz Rubbermaid water bottle about 4 times a day.... that isn't all I drink though. I drink OJ in the morning and I will have a glass of soda with dinner. I also sip water thru the night whenever I wake up (which is often) because I'm always so thirsty at night.

Re: water intake

This was really hard for me in the beginning. I am not a big water drinker, at all.
I was drinking about 64oz/day for a while, but was still getting a lot of cramping and tightness. So now, I drink 80-100oz/day. I just try to do what you are doing now....drink a certain amount at all times throughout the day. I use bottles of water because it is easier for me to keep track...even if it isn't very environmentally friendly!

Re: water intake

I drink at least 64 oz at work alone, sometimes more. My water bottle is 32 oz. At home I drink at least another glass or two of water/iced tea, so I drink almost 100 oz a day depending on the day.

Can you weigh the bottle empty and then full? That's what I did with mine and found it was 32 oz. Do you know anyone that has a WW scale or a digital scale that gives pounds/ounces?

Or try searching for the product online - that should tell you how many oz. that bottle is.

on a side note, i was just wondering... are you supposed to increase how much water you drink as you get further along in the pregnancy, or is it pretty much throughout that you should be drinking tons?
