Water in the basement when it rain. Who do I call??

Everytime it rains, water leaks through our basement wall, always from the same spot.

It is right where the water comes down from the gutter on the roof.

I always make sure the gutters are cleaned out.

There is a crack in the basement wall, that I patched.

Who do I call, a leaky basement company or gutter people?

I think the first fix would be to direct the water away from your foundation. Is the water directed far enough from your foundation? Do you have a extension on your gutter?

You may need to regrade the soil in that area too so that water flows away from your foundation. The gutter extension won't help if the land is slanted toward your house.

Go to HomeDepot, spend $10 on something like


or something similar. I have these on almost all my downspouts. My basement used to leak as well. Once I put them on, the leaks stopped. The only time it leaked after that is if someone moved the drain extension.....

It may not be a permanent solution, but it will definitely work, and you can do it in a few minutes.
