Water and Babies under 6 months
My babysitter fed dd 6 oz of bm in her bottle which usually more than enough for her. But she said she still seemed hungry and gave her water in her bottle. I was freakin out. I didn't think you should give a baby under 6 months just plain water. I called ped and the receptionist said it was ok. I guess I still want some reassurance. tia eta: she had more bm to give her.

Re: Water and Babies under 6 months
I dont think water is a problem at all. Some babies under 6 months actually need a few oz of water if they are consitpated. It would be your preference as to what kind of water (bottled, filtered, boiled ect). I started giving DD 2-3 oz of water around 6-7 months old since she was eating more and seemed thirsty.
My only issue is that the babysitter probably should have discussed that with you first......

I gave my kids water too. Even if it was after feedings to clean their palate.
I do agree with a PP about how I'd be more concerned with the fact that your sitter didn't run it by you first.

Re: Water and Babies under 6 months
My DS loves water. It started because he wanted to hold the bottle, so bette he practice with water than milk. And he loves it, so I give it to him.
