Water
I know you're usually supposed to have 64oz of water in a day, but I usually go beyond that because I'm the type who gets dehydrated very easily. One of the nurses at my Dr's office told me that while pregnant I should be drinking a GALLON a day. That's something like 128oz isn't it? I drink a lot, but sure it can't be that much. It seems a bit excessive. Anybody else get this advice?

Re: Water
Yes!!! I was drinking a minimum of 64oz of water and was told I was dehydrated several times!! I couldn't understand why and was told to double my water intake. Finally I decided to switch to water with electrolytes and cut my water intake back down to 64oz (max). Since making that change I have had no problems with my keytones being off!!!

Re: Water
My doc suggested water infused with electrolytes.
They sell all natural spring water infused with electrolytes at Whole Foods.
He said he would suggest Gatorade but there's so much sugar in that -- so, he said you are better off getting them in the purest form.
He said the electrolytes will really help even moreso than just the benefit of straight water alone. So, I bought a case of that.

Re: Water
i haven't been told this specifically by my doctor, but i am not surprised. the 64oz recommendation is for normal, non pregnant people (the eight 8oz glasses per day thing). when you're pregnant, your body has sooo much more fluid, between extra blood volume, amniotic fluid, etc so it's not surprising you need a lot more than 64 oz a day. not to be graphic, but if i only drank 64oz a day i think i'd be having massive headaches and my pee would be dark yellow all day which is not a sign of good hydration! i am thirsty soooo often and drinking water ALL the time, pretty much since i got my BFP.

Re: Water
hmm, maybe I'll look for water with electrolytes then. I don't have any Whole Foods near me, but I'll see if I can find any in my regular grocery stores. I've been upping my water either way, but can't imagine drinking a gallon. We'll see!

I get smart water (with electrolytes) at CVS and Stop and Shop.

Re: Water
Smart Water has electrolytes and is by far the best tasting bottled water, IMO. They sell is everywhere. I hate using bottled water, but I stocked up on some Smart Water recently, since its been so hot.

Re: Water
I probably only drink 10 cups a day at the most. I feel well hydrated & I'm peeing constantly so I think I'm good! I can't imagine drinking much more than that.

Water
I've been trying my best to drink a ton of water, but after reading this it doesn't seem like a lot. I'll have to pick up some Smart Water.

Water
I'm drinking a lot more than I did before I was pregnant but definitely not close to a gallon. Probably about 50oz or so. I think I pee enough and it's very light. Hope it's enough for now because I feel like I'm drowning as it is! LOL

Re: Water
Ha. I'm DEF not drinking a Gallon of Water a day lol. More like 3-4 full glasses which isn't enough for non-pregnant people.
However, it's more then I've ever drank so I'm trying i'm trying.
