Definitely the train!!

My peeps will be be in the 80's and 1st and then walk west to 5th avenue and the 90's and then will head to columbus circle to see me just before I enter the final meters of the race and head back into the park. I will meet them at Columbus circle after I get my stuff by the Trump building.

I have a chart I use to equate, according to my pace, the approximate time I will be at different miles in the race. So they know approximately when to look out for me. I also tell them what side of the street to stand on and I make sure I shift to that side of the road when I am approaching.

Where your walking shoes and a warm coat!!

Best of luck to your brother for a fun and healthy run!!

Re: Watching the NYC Marathon

I will, as is my usual, be in 3 of the 5 boroughs cheering for my hubby and friends.

I will be in Brooklyn near Clinton and Washingon/Lafayette.

I will be in Queens at Court Square (right before the bridge)

then I will be on 125 & 5th.

I am walking from our apt to the place in BK, jumping on the G train at Clinton and Washington and taking that to Court Square

jumping on the F into the city and making my way up to 125 on the 4/5.

I won't be going to the finish b/c that day is also my dh's bday so I have to get home and get stuff ready for a small party after.

If ANYONE you know is planning on running between a 3:20 and a 3:45 marathon, let me know. I'll be following that pace for my hubby and would be very glad to pack extra supplies and cheer!

I rock with thisChat Icon

My dad runs and DH ran

I take subway to mile 5. That's in bay ridge...runners love seeing someone there. They just get over the bridge, you get a chance to see what pace group they are with so you can pick them out at your next location.

When they are getting on the Queensboro Bridge is a great spot too...I think its mile 14 or 15...

The most important place they can see you is in Harlem before the Bronx. Its dead up there, they are all hot and climbing a hill...they are like zombies.

I never cross into Bronx, since we start on 1st, once they pass, we high tail it to 5th...then we see them entering Bronx and leaving the Bronx. Then get down to the park as fast as you can.

My first year, I caught up with my dad in 7 different spots. It was exhasting.

With DH, he is faster, so I only make it to 3 spots.

I always just rely on the subway and have no problem hitting all the spots.

Marathon day is the one and only day I am ever homesick for NY. Its so much fun.

you did not ask, but here's some picsChat Icon

DH eats more during a marathon then anyone I have ever seen...I do this the entire time...waiting for him to pass

Harlem, there is like nobody cheering up there at all. Your brother would be SHOCKED to see someone he knows
