Washing machine help
I put in a load of laundry last night. I went down to switch it over, and it never drained! DH has been fooling around with it on and off since last night, but no luck.
Who should I call for washing machine repairs? It's a Maytag, but I have no idea how old it is or where the previous homeowners got it. Is it a bad idea to call someone out of the Pennysaver? I was just thinking that Sears would probably be way more expensive.
TIA!

Re: Washing machine help
Thanks! DH is home today, so I'll have him call Maytag.
He still thinks he can figure this out on his own. He is going to try to take the back off the washer before he calls anyone

I agree. I would call Maytag first and see what they recommend.

Re: Washing machine help
That used to happen in my parent's house. We would just re-run the spin cycle and it would drain all of the water.

We tried that. It won't spin either. We just hear a grinding kind of noise. I'm thinking something's gotta be stuck.

I'm sorry. Hopefully you'll get a repairman out there soon to fix it for you. GL.

Re: Washing machine help
I know you said you don't know 'how' old the machine is, but just an FYI, sometimes they charge you $150 just to walk through the door before even LOOKING at the thing ..........
You might be better off just buying a new machine if it's on the older side -
DH spent $400 to 'fix' the dryer in his old apartment, he could have bought a new one !! -
Something to think about !!

Re: Washing machine help
It's definitely not that old. I just wish DH would stop trying to figure out the problem and admit defeat lol!

Re: Washing machine help
DH called Maytag - someone's coming tomorrow . It's $69 for the service call and that will be deducted from any repairs we do. Now I just have to bring my wet laundry to my sister's after work and re-wash it. Thanks for everyone's advice!
