"Washing" Brick

Has anyone ever painted brick with a wash?

I'm not fond of the real red brick, and I've seen some houses in my area where the brick is more of a beigey rose color, NOT painted looking, just muted, and I LOVE it.

Anyone know how to do this?

Nope...we have a yellow "dutch" brick which comes a different color. I don't like the painted bricks usually, I love red brick!! Why not power wash and see how it comes out? Makes a huge dif. and you may love it...

one of my neighbors did it.... he turned his red brick into a light beige but didnt use paint. we were thinking aboout doing it too but instead we sided the whoel house.

he used acrylic paint and a paint brush and spread it on lightly- not covering the whole thing. he suggested trying it on extra pieces of brick you can buy first to make sure you get the right color.

Brick comes in many colors, is theirs that color naturally perhaps?

If not, I would speak to a landscaper or painter as they would know more.

Good luck!!

I'm not sure, but it seems like in my neighborhood all these houses were built basically the same. Most have the red brick (unless they are sided), and there are just a handful that have that muted, washed look...

I guess I'll ask at Aboff's.
