Wantagh Pool

I don't go to public pools since I have my aunt's inground 1 mile away but I've reading a lot of nice things about the Wantagh pool. I have some questions though:

1. Is there really a "no camera" rule? I love taking pictures of my DS.

2. Do you have to buy the season pass or can you just go for the day? And how much would it be for a 16M and 2 adults?

3. How are the crowds? I'm sure it will be crowded on any weekend day but is it unbearable?

Thanks so much for any thoughts and advice! Maybe I'll see you there.

Re: Wantagh Pool

- I took pics of my DD when we were there last month.

-It's CRAZY expensive to go - $25 per adult. That's the "non-resident" rate, but even if you're a Nassau County resident, that's the rate you pay without the Leisure Pass. You can buy a Leisure Pass there for $25, and then you get the "resident rate" which is $7, so it would cost a total of $32 for the first time you go to the pool, and $7 for every time thereafter.

- I've only been there on a weekday but it was fine. It's huge - there is a gigantic swimming pool, plus two kiddie pools and the sprinkler park. Plenty of room for everyone (although, getting a seat under one of the tents for shade might not be easy).

My SIL was taking pics of my DD by the sprinkler park and a lifeguard came over to tell her to put the camera away. So they do have a no camera rule but I guess it depends on how strict the lifeguards want to be.

If you get there early when it opens, its usually not crowded and you can get a chair under one of the tents.

I like it there a lot. You buy the leisure pass and it is good for 3 years, then it's only $7 to go. I believe children under 7 or 8 are free (I think). There is always seating under the tents at the little baby pool. I have gone at 1pm and have found seating by the sprinklers too. They also have a lap pool, diving pool, and water slide.
