walking

I have always worked out at least 3x a week gym, rollerblading, yoga etc. But, I just got a dog and I love walking him. I have been walking him 3x a week for at least a hour at a brisk pace. Will this be enough daily activity to keep me in shape?

Re: walking

Depending on how many miles you are walking. I would buy a pedometer and try take 10,000 steps thats equivelant to 5 miles.

Re: walking

That's hard to answer without seeing what kind of effort you put into it. In general, I can't imagine that 3 hours of walking a week would be enough for weight loss. I mean, when I lived in Brooklyn I'd easily walk 3 hours a week just walking to the subway and then from the subway to work, and 5 blocks each way for lunch. And I wouldn't consider that my weekly workout, you know?

You know what a good workout feels like. Is this one? Is your heart pounding? Are you sweaty and out of breath?

Re: walking

I can only answer based on my experience and the answer is yes. If you stick to a diet, you can.

When I lived in NY and ALONE, I ate soooo good. I used to take Sadler for 2 walks a day. One of them was right after work and we would walk the boardwalk for an hour sometimes over an hour if the weather was nice. I also did a Pilates DVD at home 3x a week and I was in the best shape back then....before I got mar ried!!Chat Icon

Try it if not, add another day.

Fonzie will love you even more for it.
