Waking a sleeping 3 month old

I usually do my last feeding between 8:30-930 depending on the events of the day and DS STTN. He usually wakes up around the same time every morning.

I go back to work 1 week from today Chat Icon and I need him to be up an hour or so earlier.

In the next week, do I move up his last feeding & bedtime to 7:30pm? I know that is going to be hard b/c DH & I are off and we will be out and about certain nights. Plus, Labor Day Weekend we have a lot of family stuff.

Or do I just wake him up when I need him to be up and hope he falls into a routine until we can get on a strict schedule once work starts???

What time does he wake up in the morning when you feed him then?

Now - he starts stirring around 6:30am and wakes up between 7:15-7:45am.

I need him up by 6am!

I would change is bedtime to be earlier. It is more important that he get enough sleep. I would change my personal schedule so I could be home by his bedtime this week, even though you are off. Then again, I am that person that is completely psycho about my child's bedtime.

Bedtime is hard to change. You can try to make it a little earlier, but that won't necessarily get your DS up earlier. What I do if I need DD to get up and she is not awake is open her bedroom door and the noise in the house wakes her up. That way she thinks she woke up on her own.

Your DC will most likely adjust to the change. DD seems to know when it is a work day, she gets up earlier..I think after a few days his body clock will adjust...

ETA: But I would try to move the bedtime up earlier so he gets more rest in. Try 15 min. intervals each day for the next few days or so..

Re: Waking a sleeping 3 month old

We never adjusted DDs bedtime. She normally wakes up anywhere between 7:00-7:30, but I need her to be up earlier (not much earlier though) on the days I work. We wake her up on most days (some days she's already awake). It really hasn't affected her sleep at all.

Depending on how tired she is at the end of the day, I may put her down to bed a half hour earlier, but generally she is in bed by 7:30.

See how things go, your DS might just adjust his bedtime on his own.
